2007-2008 Season >Apocalyptic Butterflies

"Apocalyptic Butterflies" by Wendy MacLeod

In this offbeat comedy, set at Christmastime, Hank and Muriel adjust to life as new parents to a seven-week-old baby girl they still haven’t named.  Under the pressures of marriage, holidays and more, resentment has taken the place of enjoyment for this young couple.  Hank craves love and attention, Muriel feels burdened and undervalued, and Hank’s parents, Francine and Dick, travel to the beat of a very different drum.   Looking elsewhere for comfort, Hank becomes more confused, and just when things can’t get any worse, they do.  With humor and tenderness, MacLeod helps Hank and Muriel to emerge from the enveloping stress.  Just as a beautiful butterfly hatches from its cocoon, this funny and sweet play bursts with joy and light.
