Annapolis, Md. The Bay Theatre Company, the professional theatre of Annapolis, opens its fourth season with Fool for Love, Sam Shepard’s highly-charged Obie award-winner.  This explosive play maintains a fever pitch of action and a palpable element of surprise.  Throughout the four-person drama, fiery passion wrangles with icy despair, and the past keeps a stranglehold on the present.

Reunited in a rundown motel on the edge of the Mojave desert, Eddie and May engage in a battle of conflicting emotions and forbidden desires.  As they struggle to break free of their memories, the past forces its way relentlessly into their present world.

Leslie Sarah Cohen, a Catholic University graduate residing in Washington, D.C., will make her Bay Theatre debut, as May.  Ben Russo, lately seen on the Main Stage at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, joins the company as Eddie.  David Johnson, a member of Actors’ Equity from Fairfax, Virginia, will portray May’s suitor, Martin.  The Old Man will be played by Richard Foster of Annapolis.  Lucinda Merry-Browne, co-founder and producing artistic director of The Bay Theatre Company, will direct.

Fool for Love opens October 7 and plays through November 12, 2005.  Tickets are $22 for general admission, $17 for students (with student ID) and seniors (age 65 or over).  Group discounts are available.  Tickets may be purchased online (www.baytheatre.org) or reserved by phone (410) 268-1333 or email (reserve@baytheatre.org).  MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted.  Performances are held at The Bay Theatre Company, 275 West Street, Annapolis, Maryland, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.  Three Thursday performances will take place at 8:00 p.m. October 27, November 3 and November 10.  The theatre space is located on the lower level of the West Garrett Office building, and complimentary parking is available in the garage adjacent to the building.  Directions to the theatre are available on the Bay Theatre website (www.baytheatre.org) or by calling the theatre at (410) 268-1333.  Handicapped access is available; please call in advance to make arrangements.
