Janet Luby - Artistic Director
Janet Luby is co-founder and Artistic Director of Bay Theatre Company. As Artistic Director, she looks forward to another exciting season. Janet has appeared in numerous roles at Bay Theatre, starting with Bay’s initial production of Beyond Therapy in makeshift quarters at Truxton Park.
Among Janet’s other favorite roles at Bay Theatre were Emma in Betrayal, Dorine in Tartuffe, Annie in The Norman Conquests, Stevie in The Goat or who is Sylvia, and most recently as a dog for the title character in Sylvia. Before settling in Annapolis, Janet worked in theatre in San Francisco and New York. Favorite regional roles include off-Broadway as Marianne in Tartuffe and Livia in The Tamer Tamed at the RAPP Arts Center (directed by Jeffrey Cohen). Ida in Die Fledermaus at the San Francisco Opera (directed by Lotfi Monsouri) and Muriel in Apocalyptic Butterflies at Roundhouse Theatre in Silver Spring, MD directed by Gillian Drake. She played Corie in the European tour of Barefoot in the Park for three months with the American Drama Group and was a company member of The New Rose Theatre - an ACT alumni group.
She has a BA in Theatre from the University of Minnesota and is a graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. No list of accomplishments would be complete without adding the one that brings Janet the greatest pride – her amazing 13 year old son Tommy.
