Wednesday, September 24, 2008 The Bay Theatre Company Equity and Non-Equity actors welcome. Bring your headshot and resume, stapled together. You will be given a side from the script. Auditions will be cold readings and singing. Please come prepared to do 24-32 measures of a song of your own choosing. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring your own music. Actors with a visual impairment, please notify audition coordinator to receive sides in advance. All roles paid.
This musical allegory concerns two parents who put up a wall between their houses to ensure that their children fall in love. The beauty of the music and the poetry of its dialogue carried this play through 17,162 performances Off Broadway. As a rose has thorns, this tender, sometimes prickly, and very funny musical will appeal to all ages, for those who try to remember as well as those who are just beginning.

The Bay Theatre Company is a professional non-profit repertory theatre company located at 275 West Street in Annapolis, Maryland. It was founded in 2002 with a threefold mission: (1) to produce plays of superb quality and richness for audiences of diverse ages and cultures; (2) to promote theatre education for students of all ages, and (3) to provide working opportunities for theatre artists. To fulfill this mission, the Bay Theatre Company produces four to five professional productions each year, employing experienced theatre artists and Actors’ Equity professionals, as well as recent theatre school graduates. In addition, the Company offers workshops and performance opportunities for students of all ages, both independently and in association with Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. |
